con artistic

I LOVE the commercials for Ketel One vodka because there is something very sexy about a man with 5 o'clock shadow and a black suit. I like my men manly. not wearing tight, bright jeans or douchebaggy rhinestone shirts or long white tees that reach the knees. and above all, real men drink responsibly!

I don't really consider myself an artist, even though I draw. I have an artistic personality, though. anyways, I came across this today:

it's called Piss Christ and it is a photograph of a plastic crucifix submerged in the artists' own urine. is this supposed to be art? this doesn't take any skill, technique, or intelligence, for that matter. pathetic. any fool can do this! upon first impression, you might think this photo is nice. but when you learn what it really is, you can't help but be disgusted, whether or not you believe in Jesus. apparently he has a whole show devoted to feces. guess what its called? (if you guessed "Shit" then you win the solid gold kewpie doll)

this is only mildly less offensive than Guillermo Vargas' Eres Lo Que Lees, where he starves a dog to make some asinine political point

truly, I am most angered at the people who watched this dog get tortured. he was kept on a leash and starved, supposedly until he died. what kind of human doesn't stop this from happening? what is keeping you from freeing this dog? I can say with a high degree of certainty that I would never allow this to happen in front of me. I'd go to jail for this! I'd accept any punishment to keep this from happening. I guess "art" is subjective

no one is down for a cause anymore. its all about feminism and anti-war and crap, but if someone put a gun to your head, you wouldn't hesitate to forgo your beliefs, because you can still live your life the way you want, regardless. people died to end slavery, people laid down their lives for freedom. today, people only care about themselves. you're down for some bullshit cause now but at the end of the day, you're just another tool riding the wave. take it how you want.

on to milder, less offensive things. this should make you happy (or sad? both...?) a little girl's Christmas wish comes true :)
